Dear Lakeview Community,
We ended the week with our First Friday Flag Deck where our upper grade students give school-wide announcements and highlighted AVID tips to help each Lion grow into scholars. We also added our first Lion of the Month awards so all students could celebrate one another and cheer each other on, living into our pylpromise of being Rooted in Connection. We are so proud of our students for starting the ‘26-27 school year strong with determination, kindness, safety, and ROARing behavior where Lions are Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible. Go Lions!

Shoutout to our amazing team of parents who care deeply about our Lakeview community, ensuring our students have extracurricular learning opportunities, AND who are creative, silly, and willing to have a good time. Spirit Wear Online Store EXTENDED UNTIL TUESDAY 09/08! You still have a few days to get your spirit wear orders in! This includes 5th grade t-shirts. CLICK HERE and place your order by Tuesday! All orders will be shipped to the school and distributed to classrooms. Flyer attached.
Birthday Celebrations at Lakeview:
- NEW Birthday Messages on the Marquee! Wish your child (or staff member) a Happy Birthday on the Lakeview marquee for just $20. Please see the attached flyer from PTA. Deadline is 09/11/26.
- While we are happy to honor and celebrate your child’s birthday, please be mindful of our Student/Parent Handbook expectations, page 14. Any items brought to school that do not follow our expectations will not be distributed. Thank you for understanding!
BIRTHDAYS
In order to provide a quality education free from interruptions that distract from instructional time and to support our District’s Health and Wellness Policy, the following guidelines have been established:
- Food items are NOT permitted to celebrate a student’s birthday at school. Consider collaborating with your child’s teacher to purchase an appropriate book that can be read by the teacher to the class or donated to our school library or providing NON-FOOD items such as pencils, stickers, or gift bags to celebrate the special day.
- Any food brought to school will not be distributed to students during the school day.
- Birthday observances will not occur during instruction time. (Singing “Happy Birthday” to students is appropriate.)
- Flower bouquets, balloons, and other gifts delivered to the school to celebrate a birthday are not permitted. This causes a tremendous distraction to the classroom instruction.
- For young children, school is a main way to grow friendships. As such, the following allowances for the distribution of birthday invitations is as follows:
- TK - 2nd grades: Parents may provide teachers with a full class set of invitations on Mondays. They will be placed in the weekly Thursday folders for all students. If there is not an invitation for the full class, they will be returned.
- 3rd - 5th grades: Please utilize the class contact list organized by your teacher’s room parent in order to distribute electronic invitations. Teachers will not be placing invitations in Thursday folders.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please leave a detailed message including the reason for the absence.
