Lakeview Lions Update - August 14, 2026

Good afternoon Lakeview Community,

What a lovely start to the school year! We were impressed by the ease of transition for our students and excited for what this year will bring. Thank you to the many parents who joined us for our First Day Flag Deck and for the many classroom donations provided. We are grateful for your partnership!

Students have been learning about our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Systems over the first few days. They have toured the campus to learn the expected behaviors at each station, and began demonstrating ROAR behaviors. One way we recognize our Lions is by giving them an "Ask Me How I ROARed" sticker when students demonstrate Respect, Organization, Accountability, and Responsibility. Anyone who sees this sticker should ask the student, “How did you ROAR?” Explicitly naming a positive interaction helps to solidify the behavior and create sustainable change. Check out some of our first ROAR sticker recipients on our Instagram @lakeviewpylusd.

PE and Music begin next week. Please send your child with close-toed shoes and a water bottle that can be filled at any of our water stations.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP REMINDERS:

Parking and Gate Entrance

  • Do not drop off your child on Lakeview Avenue. This is illegal and highly dangerous.
  • Enter the second driveway on Lakeview Avenue for Vista del Verde Park. The first driveway is reserved for staff and buses.
  • Refrain from dropping off students before 7:35am when supervision begins.
  • Park in unmarked stalls facing Vista Del Verde Park, or use street parking if you plan to exit your car

Valet Procedures and Safety Protocols

  • Use the red curb for valet only and follow the traffic arrows.
  • Remain inside your vehicle at all times.
  • Ensure students exit from the right-hand side only to avoid oncoming traffic.
  • Pull forward as space becomes available to maintain traffic flow.

Lakeview is a closed campus. No parents or visitors will be allowed through the gates and onto campus before or during school unless they have checked in at the office with a valid ID.

PARENT VOLUNTEER SAFETY PROCEDURES

We value the partnership between school and home and have been thankful for the return of our volunteers. No longer are volunteers required to upload their vaccination status or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering campus. However, if you are feeling unwell, we ask that you not come to campus to volunteer. Parents who are interested in volunteering will need to complete an application in the office and present a valid ID at check-in.

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

Click HERE to access the Student and Parent Handbook. Please review this with your child. You will be required to verify that you have read and understood the contents of the handbook on your AERIES Parent Portal during Data Confirmation. If you do not have access to the Internet, you may pick up a hard copy from the school office.

STUDENT SUPPLY LISTS

Student supply lists are located on our school website, Family Corner tab. You may also access them HERE. All supplies are donations and greatly appreciated!

*Grades 3-5: As an AVID elementary school, all students in grades 3-5 learn about organization and planning through the use of an AVID binder. This year, pre-made binders were not sold. Please see the suggested supply list for items your child will use.
