Dear Lakeview Community,
Our Lakeview Team is excited to welcome you to the 2026-27 school year. Each staff member has been working hard behind the scenes to welcome your child on the first day of school on Thursday, August 13th!
Please read through the following information for updates to Lakeview happenings, especially those pertaining to our first days of school. Click HERE for the PYLUSD Back to School Guide and district updates at https://www.pylusd.org/apps/
The safety of our students is our top priority!
DROP OFF PROCEDURES
Parking and Gate Entrance
- Do not drop off your child on Lakeview Avenue. This is illegal and highly dangerous.
- Enter the second driveway on Lakeview Avenue for Vista del Verde Park. The first driveway is reserved for staff and buses.
- Refrain from dropping off students before 7:35am when supervision begins.
- Park in unmarked stalls facing Vista Del Verde Park or use street parking if you plan to exit your car.
Valet Procedures and Safety Protocols
- Use the red curb for valet only.
- Remain inside your vehicle at all times.
- Ensure students exit from the right-hand side only to avoid oncoming traffic.
- Pull forward as space becomes available to maintain traffic flow.
Lakeview is a closed campus. This includes drop off and pick up times. No parents or visitors will be allowed through the gates and onto campus before or during school unless they have checked in at the office with a valid ID. EXCEPTION: See What to Expect - Day 1 below!
WHAT TO EXPECT - DAY 1 (AUG 13)
On the first day of school only, parents may walk their child directly to their designated class line. Teacher signs will designate the start of the line. Please do not crowd around the sign so as to provide other families the opportunity to locate their class line. Classroom wagons will be available for any school supplies. After our Community Welcome and Pledge of Allegiance, parents will kindly be asked to wave to their children and make their way off campus so our teachers and students can get started with their first day together.
Please refer to the table below for lineup locations:

Dismissal:
- Teachers and staff will walk students to the gates.
- Parents should wait well behind the gates so students may exit clearly.
- Parents who choose to use the valet drive up option are asked to remain in their car and continue to move all the way forward; please do not vacate your car in the valet.
Special Notes:
Preschool: Your teacher will share specific information at the Meet & Greet.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK): Your teacher will share specific information at Meet & Greet.
Kindergarten: Students will be released at 2:10 from inside the Kinder playground. For safety, parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to meet their child for a hand-to-hand exchange. This allows teachers to gain familiarity with each child’s caregiver.
Grades 1-5 will be released at 2:15 through the following locations:
- Gate 1: Williams, Lester, Alberto, S. Olson, Sabio, Ackerman, J. Olson
- Gate 2: Nicholson, Vlastnik, Burns, Riggio, Ward
Siblings: Older siblings may meet the younger sibling at their designated gate to exit together. It is helpful for families to discuss these procedures the night before to ensure all our Lions meet up with their proper parents/guardians after school.
Childcare: Parents picking up their child from Expanded Learning Childcare can enter through Gate 2 anytime after 2:15pm and walk directly to Room 304.
WHAT TO EXPECT - DAY 2 AND BEYOND
Arrival: Gates will be open at 7:35 for students only to enter. Parents are asked to check in at the office before entering campus.
- TK/Kinder exception: Parents should join their child on the Kinder playground.
Dismissal: See information for Day 1.
SCHOOL HOURS AND ATTENDANCE
Our school office hours are 7:15AM - 4:15PM. You can view the Bell Schedule on our school website or click here.
CLASS PLACEMENTS
Class Placements will be available through your AERIES portal the evening of Wednesday, August 12. Please note: all class placements are tentative for the first two weeks of school due to enrollment changes. If there is incorrect information on your child’s demographic page, please call the office: (714) 986-7190. We do not take teacher requests. Kindly refrain from asking for a change in placement as each of our Lakeview teachers are dedicated and committed educators.
SCHOOL MEALS
For the 2026-27 school year, breakfast and lunch are offered to all students at no charge, regardless of eligibility of Free/Reduced Meals.
- Breakfast After the Bell (at recess): All students will have the opportunity to grab a pre-bagged breakfast snack at recess and take to the lunch tables to eat, at no cost.
- Lunch: All students will have the opportunity to select a school lunch at no cost. This typically includes a grain, protein and fruit/veggie.
- Please communicate with your child each day whether they will eat a school breakfast and/or lunch so that our meal counts are accurate and to eliminate waste. You can find all updated information regarding nutrition services and monthly menus on the website: https://pylusdnutrition.org/
- Reminder: Please do not drop off lunch in the office to help us minimize classroom interruptions and waste.
PARENT VOLUNTEER SAFETY PROCEDURES:
We value the partnership between school and home and have been thankful for the return of our volunteers. No longer are volunteers required to upload their vaccination status or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering campus. However, if you are feeling unwell, we ask that you not come to campus to volunteer. Parents who are interested in volunteering will need to complete an application in the office and present a valid ID at check in.
