Dear Lakeview Community,
This was an energetic and festive week! TK classes kicked off Tuesday with the 100th day of school by celebrating with a bunch of activities to make 100. The next day, our Kindergarteners transformed into the 101 Dalmatians to celebrate the 101st day of school! Thursday was a moment of reprieve before we hit Friday with classrooms filled with Valentine’s arts, crafts, activities and treats. Thank you to all of our families for donating to celebrations, hosting activity stations and volunteering their time.
Students also worked hard to complete their iReady Diagnostic test for ELA and Math. These are mid-year assessments given to all PYLUSD students to determine academic progress. Teachers use this information to help adjust their instruction and engage in goal-setting practices with students.
There is no school this Monday, February 16 in honor of President’s Day.
Kids Heart Challenge Update - We are only 74 students away from meeting the Principal’s Challenge, where Mrs. Given (and all staff/students invited) to dress up like one of our Heart Hero puppies AND Lakeview wins $500 to purchase new recess equipment! Classroom Challenge Update: Mrs. Sabio’s class took a slight lead over Mrs. Riggio’s class for most participation! Miss Ward, Mrs. Nicholson, and Mrs. Vlastnik’s classes are close behind. The class with the most participation wins a popsicle party!

NEW: PYLUSD Meals During Ramadan - Due to receiving a federal waiver, PYLUSD Nutrition Services will begin offering Ramadan meals starting Tuesday, February 17. These meals are available for students who are observing Ramadan and fasting during the school day to take home. Meals must be pre-ordered each week. Orders can be submitted through the Nutrition Services website by clicking the “Ramadan" button at www.PylusdNutrition.org.
The 2026 Science Fair 2026 has begun! Please see the attached flyer with information to guide this at-home project. In the past, we have had many entries across all grade levels and look forward to more! This year, we will align the due dates so the science projects are displayed during Open House. Presentation Boards DUE March 2nd.
Have you customized or purchased your yearbook yet? The Lakeview Elementary yearbook deadline is quickly approaching! Your yearbook purchase includes two FREE custom pages that you can personalize with your own photos and special memories from the school year. The deadline to complete your custom pages is May 6th.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
- Student's first & last name
- Teacher
- Date of the absence
- Reason for the absence
- Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
- Contact phone number
