I hope you had a lovely 3-day weekend! We celebrated my daughter’s 5th birthday with a trip to San Diego to explore the zoo and museums at Balboa Park.
We are excited that Annie Jr Play Tickets are ON SALE! Our Lakeview Lions have been diligently rehearsing every week since November and are eager to show off their talents. Save the Date: Kindness Week is coming up on January 26 - 30th! See the attached spirit week flyer to accompany the activities and lessons your child will engage in during this national campaign.
PTA Association Meeting + Snacks with Mrs. Given - Tuesday, January 27 at 3:45pm. You are invited to the quarterly Association Meeting to hear important budget and Board updates, and vote on necessary items to help our PTA continue to do their amazing supportive work! Snacks will be provided. If you are picking up students from play practice, come a few minutes early for a cup of Better Buzz and snacks. Flyer attached.
School to Home Partnership: Help your child develop problem solving skills at home. See the attached flyers for simple yet powerful ways to support your child’s problems solving skills.
SAVE THE DATE: Kids Heart Challenge is back starting January 30th! Our month long campaign will focus on healthy heart habits and online challenges to learn life saving techniques in partnership with the American Heart Association. You and your child can get a jump start! Any student who completes Finn’s Mission before our kickoff on January 30th will receive their life-saving heroes cape to wear at the assembly.

- $11,500 raised in 2025 for the American Heart Association. This year's goal: $13,000.00!
- 218 students registered in 2025. This year’s goal is: 220
- 43 students completing Finn's Mission in 2025. This year’s goal: 50

New Challenges:
- If half of the school signs up, Mrs. Given will come to school in an inflatable puppy costume, in honor of the 2026 Heart Hero Characters!
- Each student or staff member who completes Finn's Mission earns a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LXI in 2027.
- For every 18 participants who complete Finn's Mission, our school will also be entered to win $10,000 for recess and PE equipment!
- The first class with 100% AND The class with the most Finns Missions get an invite to a popsicle party!!

30 Day Public Curriculum Review
On December 15, 2025, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District initiated a 30-day public review of K-5 ELA curriculum adoption and implementation for the 2026-2027 school year. The display will also include a novel to be added to the Core and Extended Reading List. The review display will be set up at the PYLUSD district office, and members of the PYLUSD community will be able to visit the display to review hardcopy and digital materials during office hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those visiting the public review display will be able to submit feedback and/or comments through a digital feedback form. The 30-day public display will conclude on February 10, 2026.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
- Student's first & last name
- Teacher
- Date of the absence
- Reason for the absence
- Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
- Contact phone number
