Dear Lakeview Community,
Trunk or Treat is TONIGHT! Stop by from 5-7pm for fun festivities. The event is free; pizza and Boo Grams (5th grade fundraiser) will be available for purchase.
We held our first earthquake drill today. I was off campus during the National Great Shakeout on Thursday, so we practiced our duck, cover, and hold drill today. When “the ground stopped shaking” students quietly and quickly evacuated classrooms for our staging area on the blacktop. Our school goal is to have 100% of our students and staff evacuated and accounted for in under 5 minutes. Today we beat our last time and well exceeded the goal with a time of 3 minutes and 55 seconds. Go Lions! I encourage you to talk with your child about where to duck, cover and hold within your home, and where you might evacuate to during an emergency.
**Thank you to our many parents who have adjusted and are contributing to a safe parking lot and valet line! I appreciate your partnership! For friendly reminders, please see below :)**

Today is the LAST day to submit your $200 family or business donation to get your name printed on the t-shirt. But the fundraising is still going! Can you help us meet our $50,000 goal? We are 67% of the way there!

PARKING LOT RULES
Drop-off and pick-up times at Lakeview can become congested. Allow plenty of time as the valet line may take time to get through. Please observe the legal laws of the road and the Lakeview traffic policy. Be considerate and courteous to our neighbors, other drivers, and pedestrians, and set a good example for the students, respectfully.
- Do not at any time park or leave your car unattended along the red curb or yellow zones.
- Children should wait on school property (not on Lakeview Ave., Valley View, or Brooklyn sidewalks or the park) to be picked up.
- Students are instructed not to cross if the crossing guard or other authorized personnel are not present.
- Remember to yield to children and adults while they cross the public streets
- The city of Yorba Linda has designated the following:
--The west entrance to the school as an entry for buses and staff.
--The east entrance to the school for those families dropping off or picking up in the valet line against the red curb. Please keep this traffic moving! - Please follow the natural flow of the parking lot to ensure a more efficient system for all. Do not attempt to pass cars in the opposite direction.
- Please do not park or vacate your car in the bus pick-up/drop-off zone or along the red curbs.
- Please do NOT park in designated staff parking spaces. Allow for plenty of time to park on neighboring streets or the Vista del Verde park and walk to the front office.
Safety:
Drive at a safe speed at all times.
Be watchful of pedestrians crossing in the crosswalks and be watchful for children crossing in front or behind vehicles.
Do not double park. Children should not be loaded/unloaded from the passing lane of the valet.
No cell phone usage while operating your vehicle.
General Plan for the Drop-off/Pick-up Loading area:
Students will exit vehicles ONLY when the vehicle has reached the designated loading zone
As a courtesy to all drivers, students are encouraged to have themselves and all materials ready inside of the vehicle before reaching the unloading zone
Pull forward as far as possible to assist flow of traffic. Your child may enter through either gates.
Come to a complete stop.
Vehicles are to stop as close to the curb as possible.
Parents are to stay inside the vehicle.
Students will exit vehicles ONLY on the right (curb-side) who are in the right lane along the curb.
If you choose to walk your students to the gates, please use the existing crosswalks only.
