Lakeview Lion Updates: May 19, 2023

Dear Lakeview Families,

I hope to see you at our first Family Movie Night TONIGHT!! Gates will open at 6:30pm for you to begin your picnic on the grass. The Moana movie, shown on a giant outdoor screen, will begin at 7:30pm. Flier attached. 

We are wrapping up our final CAASPP tests with just a few remaining makeup tests next week. Thank you to our fabulous teachers for providing each student with rigorous, relevant and engaging instruction this whole year. Thank you to our families for ensuring your child feels secure and confident in their abilities so they can access instruction and grow their brain! And an extra thank you to the parents who helped decorate our testing classrooms’ windows and walkways with motivational posters and sayings. Much appreciation to Tina Page for providing the posters and Candace Mercer for organizing the decorating crew. We cannot do any of this without the creativity, dedication and generosity of our community - thank you!

Save the Date: May 24th for Distinguished Day + Family Picnic
In celebration of our Distinguished School Award, students are invited to dress in their fancy “distinguished” attire for a school-wide celebration and photo. Families are welcome to join for our first Family Picnic from 12-1pm. See the attached flier. Students will not be released during our family picnic. Preschool, Kindergarten through 5th grade will dismiss at their regular Wednesday times. TK families and Early Cub Preschool are welcome to bring their child back for Family Picnic.

Spring Carnival is coming on June 2nd! Purchase your tickets NOW for presale discounted price through May 30. See attachment. Thank you to all of our families who have volunteered. There is still time! Sign up to volunteer your time, talents or treasures HERE.

Lost & Found - We have an abundance of jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles and lunchboxes in the lost and found! Please check the rolling cart while at Family Picnic on May 24th or anytime after school. Remaining items will be donated by June 1.

Honorary Service Awards - Nominations DUE May 26. Click HERE to submit your nomination for a staff member, parent or community member who has gone above and beyond to support our Lakeview Community.

CHOICE OF TEACHERS - To ensure well-balanced, heterogeneous classrooms, we do not accept teacher requests. In order to provide the best learning environment for all students, many factors must be considered. A qualified team will make the proper recommendation for the placement of your child. Kindly refrain from sharing requests with staff or administration.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
Student's first & last name
Teacher
Date of the absence
Reason for the absence (if illness, we need the nature of the illness & symptoms the student is having)
Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
Contact phone number
