Lakeview Lion Updates: October 7, 2022

Dear Lakeview Families,

Thank you to the handful of parents who joined us this Wednesday for Coffee with the Principal. We had a special guest, Deputy Smith, our Lakeview School Resource Officer from the Yorba Linda Sheriff's Department share some safety tips and updates about current events on social media. I also shared that we were recently re-trained on Run-Hide-Fight, eleven staff members were re-certified in CPR, First Aid and AED, and our safety team will review our Safe School Plan which gets approved by the School Site Council, yearly. Not only is safety a top priority for me at Lakeview but it is also one of PYLUSD’s Focus Areas.

Jog-a-thon - Oct 21
This was our kickoff week for our upcoming Jog-a-thon! Take a look at the video shared in classes HERE and see the attachment for our fundraising packet. There are Family Sponsorship spaces still available through Oct 10. Is your company interested in supporting through a Business Sponsorship? Great - we are accepting their tax-deductible donations through Oct 31. Interested in donating popsicles or water bottles - we’ll take them! See the last page of the packet. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and we can’t wait to see all Lions jogging with big smiles on their faces. Jog times and parent spectator information to follow!

Trunk or Treat - Oct 28
It’s that time again! Get your trunks ready! See the attached flyers for our Trunk or Treat event and hosting a trunk.

PTA Reflections Contest - DUE Oct 24
The yearly PTA contest showcasing our Lions’ amazing artistic talents is coming up! This year’s theme is Show Your Voice. Do you have a child interested in dance, music, film, literature, photography or any other art medium? See the attached flyer and this information sheet for more information. All submissions due to the Office October 24.
-Visual Arts and Photographs must be mounted on a firm backing board
-No Student Forms will be accepted written in pencil or a copy of a Student Entry Form that was written in pencil. All must be written in pen.

Auditions for the PTA Play: MARY POPPINS JR - Oct 18th

TK Parent Night - Oct 12, 6pm

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
Student's first & last name
Teacher
Date of the absence
Reason for the absence (if illness, we need the nature of the illness & symptoms the student is having)
Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
Contact phone number
Option 3: Email Veronica Castillo, our AM Attendance Clerk at [email protected]. If you email the teacher, please Cc Veronica.
