Dear Lakeview Community,

What a fun reveal to our PTA Play: Mary Poppins Jr. -- characters out front at drop off, a backdrop puzzle pieced together at the lunch tables each day this week, and a grand finale of our blue shirts to announce the play! See the attached flyer for auditions, the parent meeting, and practices.

Join us for our first Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, Oct 5 to hear hot off the press updates from Mrs. Given, connect with other parents, and enjoy a cup of joe! We will meet in the MPR at 8am. Please enter through Gate 2. Flyer attached.

Thank you for the parent nominations to our ‘22-23 School Site Council. Now it is time to VOTE. Please fill out this brief ballot by Oct 7, 2022 at 5pm.

Academic Support Teacher
Welcome aboard to our new Academic Support Teacher, Mrs. Day. We have the opportunity to have Mrs. Day  provide additional in-class small group support. This role adds value to your child's academic experience and is a positive support to our classroom. You may have already received a permission slip for your child to participate in our first intervention cycle, which is approx 6 weeks; this is an optional support.

Speech Teacher update
Despite the shortage of Speech and Language Pathologists across the state, we have secured a teacher. Mrs. Piekarsa will be sending out her Welcome Letter to families of students receiving speech services next week. Sessions will begin shortly. We are aware of make up minutes and will be accounting for those as well. Thank you for your patience!

Breakfast & Lunch @ Lakeview
As many of you know, all students in the state of CA have access to two meals on campus, at no charge to the families. For each meal, students are to take particular components, typically 3 (main, fruit/veggie, milk/juice). If they don’t want something, we have a “share basket” on the tables. Please keep this in mind if you are also sending your child with snacks and lunch.

PTA Reflections Contest
The yearly PTA contest showcasing our Lions’ amazing artistic talents is coming up! This year’s theme is Show Your Voice. Do you have a child interested in dance, music, film, literature, photography or any other art medium? See the attached flyer for more information. All submissions due to the Office October 24. Visual Arts and Photographs must be mounted on a firm backing board. No Student Forms will be accepted written in pencil or a copy of a Student Entry Form that was written in pencil. All must be written in pen.

Parent Volunteers
Lakeview values a strong school-to-home connection. Your children benefit from seeing your participation in their educational experience. One way you can do this is by signing up to volunteer on campus. Your teacher may have a handful of in-class, prep work, field trip, Room Parent opportunities. Additionally, joining the PTA and signing up to support our school-wide events helps to ensure we can sustain the fun!
**Update to parent volunteer requirements:
As of September 17, the California Department of Public Health will no longer require volunteers to upload their vaccination status or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before entering campus. You may read the full order here.

If you plan on volunteering and working with students, we ask that you do not come to campus if you aren’t feeling well or have had COVID-19 within the past ten days.
