Lakeview Lion Updates: September 1, 2022

Dear Lakeview Families,

What an exhilarating week -- first day jitters, hot hot weather, new classmates and teachers, walks about campus, relationship building activities, breakfast at break, and so much more! I hope your child came home with news to share about his/her day…and perhaps an early bedtime after an exhausting day. We are thrilled to have your child as one of our Lakeview Lions!

Thank you to the parents who attended Back to School Night! This is an important opportunity for teachers to share about the year ahead with you. Additionally, this demonstrates to children how important the school-to-home connection is. If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child’s teacher to receive any necessary paperwork.

Save the Date/Beat the Heat!

Join us for our first Dining with Lakeview at Yogurtland in Yorba Linda on Thursday, Sept 8th from 12-9pm. 50% of your purchase will come back to Lakeview to support our Lions and wonderful school-wide programs. Flyer attached.

Please read below for some important updates and reminders:

The safety of our students is our top priority!

Drop off/Pick up:

Plan extra time for drop off and pick up. There will be traffic!
-Enter the second driveway on Lakeview for Vista del Verde Park to either drop off your child in the valet or park and walk onto campus. The first driveway is reserved for staff and buses only. Do not drop off your child on Lakeview Avenue. This is illegal and highly dangerous.
-Gates open at 7:35am. Please do not drop off your child beforehand as there is no supervision.
-TK and Kinder families may use both K gates. (map attached)
-Grades 1-5 may enter through gates 1 and 2. (map attachedM)
-The red curb is used for valet. Drivers must remain inside their car. Students should exit vehicles from the right hand side only to avoid oncoming cars in the second lane. Please stay inside your car and pull forward as space becomes available.
-If you plan to park your car, please find an unmarked stall facing Vista Del Verde Park or use street parking on the Brooklyn Ave cul-de-sac and walk up the path.
-For Pick up only: Parents (grades 1-5) must wait for their child behind the red line. TK and K families may enter the K gates to pick up their child at 2:10pm.

Lakeview is a closed campus. This includes drop off and pick up times. No parents or visitors will be allowed through the gates and onto campus before or after school unless they have checked in through the office.

Expanded Learning Childcare families may enter through Gate 2 anytime after 2:15pm and walk directly to Room 304.

AERIES DATA CONFIRMATION
We need all parents to complete their child’s data confirmation pages in AERIES portal. Please click on Student Info → Data Confirmation → and click through all 8 tabs to complete this process. The following forms are to be turned in to your child’s teacher by Sept 9:
-Insurance Protection Form
-Lakeview Student/Parent Handbook Form
-McKinney Vento (if applicable)
-Library Policy Form

CLASS PLACEMENTS
Teachers spend much time and care to consider the best placement for your child and to ensure classes are balanced. Thank you for trusting our professionalism and experience. We do not take parent requests for teacher placement. As a reminder, all class placements are tentative for the first two weeks of school due to changing enrollment.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS
Please confirm both your contact information and emergency contacts’ information is correct in AERIES.

SCHOOL MEALS
For the 2022-23 school year, breakfast and lunch are offered to all students at no charge, regardless of eligibility of Free/Reduced Meals.

Breakfast After the Bell (at recess): All students will have the opportunity to grab a pre-bagged breakfast snack at recess and take to the lunch tables to eat. TK and Kinder students will have breakfast delivered to their playground area.

Lunch: Please communicate with your child each day whether they will eat a school lunch so that our lunch counts are accurate. You can find all updated information regarding nutrition services and monthly menus on the website: https://pylusdnutrition.org/. We are not always able to get late lunches to children. If your child forgets their lunch, a free lunch will be provided.

UPDATED: PARENT VOLUNTEER SAFETY PROCEDURES: We value the partnership between school and home. Last week it was shared that volunteers will no longer need to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test when they check in to volunteer on campus. After receiving additional clarification, this is not the case.  Volunteers are included in the CDPH's definition of "worker" and are required to follow the same protocols. We are required to continue what we were doing last year by asking volunteers to show either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test. If a parent does not have either one when they arrive, we will provide volunteers with one of our over-the-counter rapid tests as an option. The PYLUSD Covid-19 page has been updated HERE.

**PYLUSD is hiring Noon Duty Supervisors and Instructional Aides! If you are interested in applying for either, please check the PYLUSD Classified Edjoin postings or inquire in the Office.

RULES AND PROCEDURES
The Student and Parent Handbook is available online. Click HERE to access it from our school website, Family Corner tab. Please review this with your child. You will be required to verify that you have read and understood the contents of the handbook on your Aeries Parent Portal.
