Lakeview Lion Updates: June 10, 2022

Dearest Lakeview Families,

We have almost made it to the finish line! Just one more short week filled with lots of fun activities. Our preliminary iReady Diagnostic data shows tremendous growth from our Lions since the beginning of the year. In ELA, 84% of students are achieving at/above grade level, an increase of 26% points. In Math, 81% of students are achieving at/above grade level, an increase of 39% points. We couldn’t do this without the ongoing support of each teacher, support staff and parent! Thank you for investing in your child’s education and joining us in the partnership to shape them to be positively contributing citizens in this world.

For grades 3-5, families will receive CAASPP reports this summer. Typically they are mailed to your home address.

Lost & Found
Are you missing a water bottle (or two) or a jacket (or three)? We have an abundance of personal items overflowing in our Lost and Found bin. Kindly remind your child to take a look in the MPR during these final weeks to gather any of their items. Teachers will be walking students through Monday afternoon and the cart will be at the valet pick up on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Safety Update
Our Lions did an excellent job during our Shelter in Place drill on Monday. Some positive and productive conversations arose naturally in class and among staff after this drill. As always, we practice with our minds and bodies to ensure we know what to do in the event of an actual emergency.

PTA Association Meeting
All are welcome to join our final PTA Association meeting for the year as we bid farewell to our outgoing Board, led by Kelly Benjamin, and welcome our incoming Board, led by Karie Yost. This will also be a time of recognizing Honorary Service Award recipients and hear final closing information for the 2021-2022 school year. Join us on June 14th at 2:30 PM in the MPR.

5th Grade Parents:

  1. Sign up to help out at your child’s End of Year Party “The Amazing Race” on June 14th as they travel through the campus, solving puzzles and reliving some Lakeview traditions. The “race” will be followed by lunch/picnic, fun music and free play.  Lunch will be prepared and served by B and C Burgers and Tacos.  Students will have the choice of tacos or quesadilla, served with rice and beans. Please let Marisol Ligot know ASAP if your child has any food allergies or dietary restrictions: [email protected].
  2. If your student is receiving an award, you should have received an invitation to our 5th grade Awards Assembly on June 14th at 1:30 PM in the MPR. Please enter through Gate 2 and walk directly to the MPR. There is no need to check in at the office.

Water Field Day
Our PE Coach, Mr. Chang, will include light water play at our last PE/Field Day on June 14th for Kinder-5th grade. Students who choose to participate may get wet. Please send your child with a towel and light change of clothes, just in case. As always, close-toed shoes are expected for all PE activities.
