Lakeview Lion Updates - April 8, 2022

Good evening Lakeview Community,

In reflecting on the first 3/4 of our school year, I am continually grateful to our community for partnering with us to provide enriching programs, activities, and genuine care for all Lions. It is always a joy to see our students participating in class, running around outside, and laughing with their friends. I am so thankful to be back on a campus with students and I know so many of you are as well.

Thank you to the many families who submitted their Intent to Return for the 2022-23 school year. You still have time - please complete our brief survey HERE.

We had a lot of fun springtime activities this past week: egg hunts (for the staff too!), building Peep houses, fluency practice through readers theater and holiday poems, making egg shakers, decorating eggs, building fruit loop rainbows, “cooking” rice crispy treats with Peeps, and of course, our traditional Friday dance party at recess. To beat the heat these past few days, students were able to enjoy a movie in the air conditioned MPR in lieu of afternoon recess. Thank you to Mr. Raul for setting this up and to our Noon Duty supervisors for helping to keep Lions safe.

Don’t forget - next week there is no school for Spring Break! We will resume on Monday, April 18th at 7:50 AM. I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends, finding adventure and rest in whatever way is meaningful to you.

When we return, we have a straight nine weeks to finish out our school year. Grades 3-5 will take the CAASPP statewide test May 2-20. Please do your very best to schedule any appointments and travel outside of this assessment window so we can provide each student with an optimal testing environment.

Congratulations to our PTA Reflections Winners! Their art was showcased at the PDA on Monday evening. See a few of their pictures HERE.

Please read below for additional information on upcoming events.

  • Pre-sale tickets/sponsorship forms will be sent home shortly.

Attached are three NOCE (North Orange Continuing Education) fliers about upcoming events and classes for adults/parents. NOCE is our partner for Love and Logic and other parenting/wellness classes. Many of our Lakeview staff have attended Love and Logic training and we’d love for you to also benefit from these practices at home with your Lions! See attached.

A few health and safety reminders:

  • Toys and personal field equipment should not come to school.
  • Please send your child with a healthy snack for recess. Candy is not a sufficient way to refuel your child’s brain and body at 9:45 AM.
  • We appreciate the generosity, but food is not to be shared with friends at recess or lunch.
  • Is your child missing a jacket or water bottle? We have quite the collection in our Lost and Found.

Some Lions are needing friendly reminders about our school rules and policies. Please review our Student Handbook, located on our school website.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10:00 AM using one of the following methods:

  • Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
  • Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
    • Student's First & Last Name
    • Teacher
    • Date of the Absence
    • Reason for the Absence
      • If illness, we need the nature of the illness and symptoms the student is having.
    • Name of the person reporting the absence and their relationship to the student.
