This week was filled with fun community building events! Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Lakeview Restaurant Fundraiser at Blue Scoop Creamery on Wednesday. Did you see any guest scoopers you knew?! It was a perfect day for a cool treat. We plan to have one more “Dining with Lakeview” Restaurant Fundraiser in May. Stay tuned!
I had a wonderful time on Tuesday making a Springtime LED card with each of our Lions. Thank you to PTA for providing the supplies and specifically to Mrs. Hodges for finding additional conductive tape out in Pomona! Thank you to the parent volunteers who gave their time, jumped in to help construct our electricity path, and to help problem solve with students. Disguised within the craft were lessons on flexible thinking, perseverance, patience, and collaboration. Just like in the classroom, each of our ELA and Math standards are actually opportunities for us to develop life-long tools for students to access in the real world. Identifying how a character changes over time is really about how we grow and revise our thinking. Finding the area or volume of a shape is really about analyzing a situation to find multiple entry points and make a plan of action. We are honored to get to spend 6+ hours a day with your child. Thank you for entrusting us with your most prized possession!
Our school counselor, Mrs. Mrosek, shared a valuable resource for parents - a free course on Parenting the Love and Logic Way. Many PYLUSD staff members have attended professional development around this approach to maintaining calm and peace while guiding children to develop resiliency and responsibility. Lakeview Yearbook Needs your Photos!!! ASAP... or by April 15th! Whether it’s 1st Day of school photos, Spirit Wear day photos or any other event at Lakeview, we would love to use your photos for the Yearbook this year! Preferably photos with 3 or more Lakeview students, but feel free to submit whatever you have! We will try our best to include it all!
- If you already have a TreeRing Yearbook account from last year, please upload photos here. If possible, please organize your photos is the appropriate folders.
- If you don’t have a TreeRing Yearbook account from last year or this year, you can email your photos directly to: [email protected].
Statewide CAASPP Testing for Lakeview students in grades 3-5 is scheduled between May 4 - 20. You should have received a letter in your child’s Thursday folder. Please make sure to plan any vacations outside of this window so we can ensure an optimal testing environment for your child. More information to follow!
A few health and safety reminders:
- Toys and personal field equipment should not come to school.
- Please send your child with a healthy snack for recess. Candy is not a sufficient way to refuel your child’s brain and body at 9:45 AM.
- We appreciate the generosity, but food is not to be shared with friends at recess or lunch.
- Is your child missing a jacket or water bottle? We have quite the collection in our Lost and Found.
Some Lions are needing friendly reminders about our school rules and policies. Please review our Student Handbook, located on our school website.
Did you know that Lakeview Elementary has a before and after school care program on campus? The Lakeview Expanded Learning Program strives to support the Lakeview students and families by providing a safe and enriching environment before and after school. The hours of operation are 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Monthly fees are based on your contracted schedule. Holidays coincide with the school’s district calendar. Registration for the upcoming '22-23 school year will open up to currently enrolled students and incoming TK students April 6, 2022 at 9:00 AM. If space is available, registration will be accepted for new families on April 25, 2022.
