Dear Lakeview Families,
What a fabulous week at Lakeview! We started off with our TWO-RRRIFIC Tuesday Celebration, and ended with our Cash Cube and Principal for the Day: Zachary Lukehart! In between was much learning and prep for our Open House next week.
Save the date: Thursday, March 3 Lakeview Open House! Join us for dinner, books, updates at the PTA meeting and of course, your child’s classroom showcase! The schedule is as follows:
- 4:30 PM - Book Fair opens in the MPR
- 5:00 PM - B&C Burgers Taco Stand, Mexican food, Water/Soda for Purchase in Quad quad. Cash & Venmo Accepted.
- 5:30 PM - PTA Association Meeting in MPR (Book Fair Closes Temporarily)
- 6:00 PM - Classrooms Spen (Book Fair Reopens)
- 7:00 PM - Classrooms Close
- 7:30 PM - Book Fair & Taco Stand Closes
I was out of a job today 😉 when 2nd grader Zachary Lukehart took over as Principal for the Day. He was very official in his tie and blazer, and walked around all day with the Principal’s Walkie-Talkie. He started off by checking the campus for any safety concerns, greeted all Lions by walking through each classroom, distributed Lion of the Month awards, conducted official Office business and even facilitated our trimester Earthquake Drill! What a day! Take a look at his day on our Instagram: @lakeviewpylusd. Thank you to the Lukehart family for the generous donations and fundraising for our Jog-a-Thon!
PTA Reflections Art Contest UPDATE:
We have just received word on our students’ entries into the PTA Reflections Contest. Congratulations to the following students who received 1st place at the Council level for their age division and art category! Your work now advances to the next level:
- Dylan Li - Film Production
- Joanne Li - Literature
- Zachary Lukehart - Photography
- Ella Lee - Visual Arts
Additional congratulations to Ella whose entry has received the Award of Excellence and is being submitted to the State level! We won’t know the results until May but in the meantime Gooo Lions!
Our Kids Heart Challenge is still on! Has your child signed up to take the fitness challenge or kindness challenge yet? This is a simple school-to-home activity for Lions to learn about healthy habits for our hearts. Most families have some connection to a friend or relative with heart disease. Any optional donations made to the American Heart Association provide Lakeview with a percentage in return to purchase PE/recess equipment. If your child has already completed some daily challenges, they may have already earned their red wristband. Additional incentives and keychains will be distributed next week based on each level. Click HERE to join in!
The Canned Food Drive has been extended! Yes, you “can” still donate non-perishable items to the blue bins located at each gate and in the Office through Wednesday, March 2. This was an extension activity from our 2/22/22 Celebration and as a connection to growing our healthy heart habits.
March is just around the corner with a long stretch until Spring Break in April. We kindly ask that you partner with us in having regular conversations about how to be a R.O.A.R.ing Lion by discussing ways to be Responsible, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful. One great way to do this is by using picture or chapter books that you read nightly with your children. Discuss examples and non-examples of ways characters are demonstrating our R.O.A.R.ing traits.
**Please continue to notify the Office if your child is sick or named as a close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID 19. It is our goal to keep students in class as much as possible, when they are healthy. The updated Symptom Tree is ATTACHED.
**Remember, you can submit your child's absence through our link on our school website.
