Lakeview Lion Updates: February 18, 2022

Dear Lakeview Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Superbowl-Valentine’s Day Weekend and have wonderful plans for this upcoming 3-day weekend! I am heading off to the mountains for a little family getaway, so this email will be brief so we can all begin our weekend!

Our School Accountability Report Card has been updated and posted to our school website.

The Book Fair is coming! Please mark your calendar for February 28-March 4. There is a flyer attached.

Tuesday is our TWO-RRRIFIC Celebration for the unique calendar date: 2/22/22. Please see the attached flyer for ways your child can dress up. We will have fun ELA and Math activities led by AVID students and a dance party at recess brought to you by our Plant Manager DJ Raul! Additionally, we invite each Lion to participate in our canned food drive throughout the whole week. There are blue bins located in the Office and just outside our internal doors. All donations go to the families supported by South County Outreach. Please see the attached flyers.

The Kids Heart Challenge has begun! This is a simple school-to-home activity for Lions to learn about healthy habits for our hearts. Sign up to take the fitness challenge or kindness challenge. Any donations made to the American Heart Association provides Lakeview with a percentage in return to purchase PE/recess equipment. If your child has already completed some daily challenges, they may have already earned their red wristband. Additional incentives and keychains will be distributed next week based on each level. Click HERE to join in!

This is a friendly reminder to take the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) parent survey online before Friday, February 25th. As parents and guardians, your feedback is extremely important and will help PYLUSD, as well as Lakeview Elementary School, improve. To access this year’s parent survey, you will find it on the front page of the District’s website as well as on our school’s homepage.

As the weather continues to change and winds accompany our days, so do the stirrings of students. We are increasing our conversations and lessons on kindness, respect to others and ourselves, and safety. Please join us in talking with your child about ways they can R.O.A.R. both at home and at Lakeview. We know mistakes are a vital part of our learning process. We also know our Lions can live into the high expectations we set for them with the proper supports on how to be Responsible, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful! Let’s ROAR together.
