Lakeview Lion Updates: May 12, 2023

Dear Lakeview Families,

THANK YOU to our generous and creative community for their outpouring of love and care this week during Staff Appreciation Week. From breakfast to charcuterie to a delicious lunch and a lot of extra goodies in between, are very full and well-loved. Thank you for this partnership - we cannot do the hard work of educating students without your support.

Mental Health Awareness Week kicked off with primary and upper grade assemblies led by our School Counselor, Ms. Murhi. Students learned about the importance of caring for our mental health with the same value as our physical health, along with identifying and practicing coping strategies.

We are still in the middle of CAASPP Testing for our students in grades 3-5. Keep getting a good night’s sleep and nutritious breakfast before each test session. We can’t wait to see the results and already know we’ve accomplished great heights together this year!

Join us for Dining with Lakeview at Yogurtland this Wednesday, May 17th from 12-9pm. Show the attached flier and 50% of your total will be returned directly to Lakeview!

Next Friday, May 19th is our first Family Movie Night! Bring you dinner, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a wonderful evening together with an outdoor viewing of Moana. Gates will open at 6:30. The movie will begin at 7:30. No pets or alcohol allowed on campus. Flier attached.

Spring Concert for 4th and 5th grade families! Strings, band and vocals will perform together on May 15 at 11am. You may enter through Gate 2 and head straight to the MPR. Please note our Teacher Request policy as noted in our Student Handbook:
CHOICE OF TEACHERS
To ensure well-balanced, heterogeneous classrooms, we do not accept teacher requests. In order to provide the best learning environment for all students, many factors must be considered. A qualified team will make the proper recommendation for the placement of your child. Kindly refrain from sharing requests with staff or administration.

Save the Date: May 24th for Distinguished Day + Family Picnic
In celebration of our Distinguished School Award, students are invited to dress in their fancy “distinguished” attire for a school-wide celebration and photo. Families are welcome to join for our first Family Picnic from 12-1pm. See the attached flier. Students will not be released during our family picnic.  Preschool, Kinder-5 will dismiss at their regular Wednesday times. TK families and Early Cub Preschool are welcome to bring their child back for Family Picnic.

Spring Carnival is coming on June 2nd!  We hope you join us for our Surf’s Up Lakeview Carnival! Sign up HERE to volunteer your time, talents and treasures! See the attached flier for tickets.

Everyday Counts!
Please help your child be on time everyday! Students need additional time to walk from the valet to their classroom line. We begin our community flag salute at 7:50am. The warning bell is at 7:45am.

Independent Study Contracts
If you have a planned trip of 3+ days, please notify the office and your child’s teacher. An independent study contract can be arranged to ensure your child has ongoing access to their learning and provide for recaptured absences. We kindly request a 2-week advance notice.

Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
