Lakeview Lion Updates: February 24, 2023

Dear Lakeview Families,

I have heard wonderful feedback from our parents of Strings and Band students sharing praises about last night’s Musical Showcase! Thank you to our music teachers – Ms. Neumayr, Mr. Hung and Mr. Mottershead for leading our students in a wonderful musical opportunity, which is a district-wide highlight and investment. Thank you to our 4th and 5th grade classroom teachers who support the emerging gift in many of their students.

A HUGE thank you to all the families that participated in the Kids Heart Challenge! We are so proud of our students for BEING THE TORCH! Thank you for your incredible generosity and support in making our community heart healthy while helping others. Together we have raised over $12,000 for the American Heart Association, helping to save so many lives! All while helping our students understand the importance of having a happy and healthy heart! Thank you! More fun prizes and dance parties to come!

We have additional rain in the forecast for next week. Please plan for extra drop off/pick up time, layer your child in appropriate clothing and kindly respect the parking signage. Parking spaces designated staff and with a specific position need to be reserved for such. This includes our two Nurse spots located in the visitor lot next to the blue ADA spots. If you are not a school nurse with PYLUSD, please do not park in their spots :) It is essential for them to have immediate access to our school at all times.

Parents of Honor Choir - a change in performance time. Please see the updated letter, attached.

Community Engagement Survey for Superintendent: The Board of Education wants your input on PYLUSD’s next superintendent. Read the full update and take a short survey at www.pylusd.org/news by March 3rd.

Expanded Learning Before/After School Care 2023-24: Currently attending families and incoming TK/K families may register beginning March 20th. Contingent upon space, new incoming families may register on April 3rd. Please see the attached flyer.

Incoming TK or Kindergartner for the 2023-24 school year? We are offering a school tour on February 28th for families with incoming Transitional Kindergartners or Kindergartners for the 2023-24 school year. Please see the attached flyer and call the office to RSVP.

LAST CHANCE to buy Spring Spirit Wear this year! - EXTENDED DEADLINE 2/27
Need a refresh on your child’s Lakeview Spirit Wear? Make your final purchases for the 22-23 school year. See the attached flyer. Orders DUE February 27th. Items will be shipped directly to your house. Every Friday is Lakeview Spirit Day!

Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon! See the attached flier to learn how to get your child set up and ready for our Book Fair which will be open March 13-17. We also need volunteers!

Everyday Counts!
Please help your child be on time everyday! Students need additional time to walk from the valet to their classroom line. We begin our community flag salute at 7:50am. The warning bell is now at 7:45am. Attendance letters will be coming home soon for students with 10% or more absences this year. 

Independent Study Contracts
If you have a planned trip, please notify the office and your child’s teacher. An independent study contract can be arranged to ensure your child has ongoing access to their learning and provide for recaptured absences. We kindly request a 2-week advance notice.

Need to Report an Absence? Please let the Office Staff know of your child’s absence by 10am using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:
Student's first & last name
Teacher
Date of the absence
Reason for the absence (if illness, we need the nature of the illness & symptoms the student is having)
Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
Contact phone number
