Dear Lakeview Families,
Happy Lunar New Year to all! At a recent staff meeting, teachers studied the connection between literature standards through the grade levels. They then were given a copy of Playing with Lanterns, a translated children’s story about the Chinese tradition of smashing lanterns at the end of the Lunar New Year celebration. I get to read this story aloud to some classes on Monday!
Next week is the global Kindness Week, embedded in our PYLUSD month-long focus. There will be daily activities at our Kindness Station at recess for all students and additional classroom activities. In true Lakeview fashion, we have some awesome Spirit Days planned for each day next week. See the list HERE.

If your child recently qualified as a GATE learner, you should have received notification through their AERIES portal just prior to Winter Break. For those families interested in learning about Lakeview’s GATE program, please see the attached flyer for our Parent Information Night on January 25 at 5:30pm in room 103. Kindly RSVP HERE.
The School Choice Transfer Window has opened! If your child is on an interdistrict transfer (home school is outside of PYLUSD) or you have a TK student on a Choice Transfer, you will need to renew this to remain at Lakeview next year. Please click HERE for more information.
Safety:
As a friendly reminder, there is no adult supervision until 7:35am. We ask that students not be dropped off until this time to ensure their safety at both gates.

Incoming TK or Kindergartner for the 2023-24 school year? We are offering two school tours on February 2nd and 28th for families with incoming Transitional Kindergartners or Kindergartners for the 2023-24 school year. Please see the attached flyer and call the office to RSVP.
--Children must be 5 years old by Sept 1 to qualify for Kindergarten
--If they miss the cutoff date, they may be eligible for our TK program
Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) - Community Input on Feb 2nd at 6pm
Please see the attached flyers regarding the district's virtual LCAP Community Forum on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 6 p.m. Join us to provide valuable input related to the district's Local Control Accountability Plan, known as LCAP. PYLUSD staff will share outcomes and action plans for the upcoming school year. Insights and ideas regarding continuous improvement efforts are welcome during this meeting.

-Option 1: Fill out the Absence Reporting Google Form, located on our school website.
-Option 2: Call the 24 hr. Absence Reporting Line (also for students who will be tardy) at 714-986-7190, then press 3. Please have the following information ready:

Reason for the absence (if illness, we need the nature of the illness & symptoms the student is having)
Name of the person reporting the absence & their relationship to the student
